 Notes from the Artist

Landscapes, street scenes and portraits of beautiful and interesting people – these are the types of paintings I love to paint for my customers. North Carolina has been my home for 59 years, and I love to travel and paint other places - particularly European street scenes and landscapes.  Currently I am painting a variety of landscapes and portraits, both commissioned and non-commissioned.  My Recent Works page should give the viewer a basic idea of my current style, etc.

A few years ago,  I had the honor of studying portrait painting with Everett Raymond Kinstler, whom I consider to be a living national treasure.  Mr. Kinstler has painted 5 U.S. Presidents, the Hollywood stars, and other business & government officials.   Mr. Kinstler is a delightful and wonderful teacher, and after studying "painting the portrait and figure master class" with him, my paintings began to take on a new life.  I feel a great depth of gratitude for being able to study with Mr. Kinstler, and will always give him credit for improving my skills as a painter.

The Thursday night life drawing class at the Center for Visual Arts in Greensboro, North Carolina gets credit for improving my drawing and painting skills as well.  It's not really a class, but more or less just a group of excellent local artists who are intent on improving their drawing and painting abilities while studying the live figure.  Meanwhile I am enjoying life with my beautiful wife Eve, and enjoying the gift of creating art.
